A wonderful spring recital.  Everyone received their composure statue as well as certificates and ribbons for festival.  Karlee Kinghorn earned her 3rd year Piano Solo trophy.  The students did a fantastic job and I am very proud to be their teacher!

Here is an updated calendar for May.  Notice the date for group lessons.  If you are not coming back during the summer, have a wonderful vacation and I'll see you next Fall!

A New Year

Wow, I can't believe where the last 6 months have gone.  Unfortunately I neglected to keep up with my blog and no one got to see the cute pictures of our awesome Halloween recital or our super fun Christmas group lesson.  I will stick in a picture of the recital here just because it is so cute!  But now we are on to a new year and are preparing for festival in about a month.  Be sure to check the new calendars I've added with info about upcoming events.  It looks to be a great year with lots of fun musical opportunities!

Amazing Concerts!

In the course of two days, I was able to spend some great time with my daughters at some really amazing concerts.  The first was a very up close and personal concert with John Schmidt.  He did a training for teachers earlier in the day that I was able to attend and then that evening put on a concert for about 140 people.  I was able to take my oldest daughter and she came away wanting to play the piano just like him.  Who wouldn't!  He is inspiring.  I am so glad we were able to go.  Can't wait 'til he comes back for his Christmas concert in December.

The next night was just as amazing as I was able to take three of my girls to the Jennie Oaks Baker Concert.  The girls were so excited to go, especially since she was playing the songs from her new Disney CD.  They sat there, mesmerized, the whole concert.  It, too, was very inspiring.  I hope that they learn to love and appreciate beautiful music as much as I do!

A Wonderful Concert Opportunity!

It's no secret that I love the violin.  In fact, I have one sitting in my closet that someday I'll hopefully play. So when I found out that Jenny Oaks Baker was coming to Idaho Falls to perform her new tribute to Disney music with the Teton Chamber Orchestra, I was ecstatic!  I immediately asked my darling girls out on a date, and we will be enjoying this wonderful concert.  It is September 22 at 7:30 p.m. at the Civic Auditiorium and you can get tickets at Dale's Jewelers in Idaho Falls.  If you purchase her CD from Deseret Book they will even give you a voucher for unlimited tickets at a discounted price.  For my students who are trying to earn composer bucks, this is a professional classical music concert and worth  $50!  Here's the link for more information if you are wanting to go.  tetonchamberorchestra.org Hope to see you there!
